2012 Open House Update: 2011 Caballero of the Year and Section Awards Announced at Annual Dinner

2012 Open House Report
The Hawthorne Caballeros officially kicked off the 2012 Season on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at our Open House.

Frank Gerris, President and General Manager of the Caballeros commented "What
a great weekend. One of the best. Congrats to Mike Ryan, Chris Fontanelle, Josh Katz, and their teams for getting the word out and producing such a strong turnout. I have all the confidence in Rich Templin's design team and the extremely strong instruction group to provide the right direction to prepare members for what can be one of the Caballeros' most successful seasons. I really look forward to the up coming months of rehearsals and show development."

Members old and new were also excited about the new season and all look forward to returning to our first camp weekend scheduled for December 17th and 18th, 2011. For more details, click here.

Annual Awards Dinner and Caballero of the Year 
The Hawthorne Caballeros officially celebrated the end of the 2011 Season at the Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday, November 26, 2011 in Wayne, NJ.

Lou Storck presented the following section winners:

Horn Player of the Year - Trish Trachim
Percussionist of the Year - Michael Seville
Marcher of the Year - Brand Davis
Guard Member of the Year - Marie Louise Lawson


Caballero of the Year
Each year the Caballeros recognize a member who exemplifies the spirit of the Caballeros with the presentation of the coveted Caballeros of the Year Award. Frank Gerris recognized the 2011 winner,  Lou Storck.  Congratulations to Louie for a well deserved and long overdue recognition.

Volunteer of the Year Award
In 2011, the Volunteer of the Year Award was re-named the Joe Lauber Award for Volunteer Service in recognition of late Joe Lauber who passed away this year. Joe and his family were dedicated volunteers and the first Joe Lauber Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Rich Warga. Rich has been the Assistant Business Manager for many years. He is now with Connecticut Hurricanes and we wish him the best in his new position.
