Champions On Parade and 64th Annual Barnum Festival Parade
Join the Hawthorne Caballeros as they compete in Champions On Parade and the 64th Annual Barnum Festival’s parade in Bridgeport, CT.  Champions On Parade will be held on Saturday, June 30th, 2012. The Caballeros will rehearse in Seaside Park during the day and will march in the parade on Sunday, July 1st, 2012. We hope to see you there. Member Information:
This is a big weekend with lots of information, so please read the following carefully and contact either Mike Ryan or Lou Storck if you have any questions. Rehearsal will start at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. We are staying over after the contest for the Barnum Parade on Sunday. If you do not have a motel room the corps is providing housing at the Boys and Girls Club of Shelton. Bring Sleeping bags, etc if you are staying at the club. Directions for Seaside Park, JFK Central High School (the competition site), the parade and the Boys and Girls Club of Shelton are below. Information for July 4th Parades will be in a separate email.

Transportation to Bridgeport
We will not have Buses for this competition. If you need help with transportation or housing please contact Lou Storck at loucabsandlourdes@hotmail.com. Practice will start at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 30th – be ready to start at 9:00 am.

Help Lining the Field
We need help lining the fields! Please contact Mike Ryan (m.ryan@cabs.org) and let him know what time you can be there – around 7:30 am would be great. We appreciate all you do to make the 2012 Caballeros a success, and lining our fields is a great contribution. Thank you Field Crew!

Housing and Facilities (Complete details and direction below)
06.29.12:     Housing Friday night, June 29th - Housing is available at Post 199 on Friday night.
06.30.12:     Rehearsal at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 30th – Seaside Park in Bridgeport, CT. (Directions below – NO BUSES)
06.30.12:    Competition is at JFK Stadium Central High School. Showers are at this field.
06.30.12:     Saturday night, June 30th – Hotel or Free Housing at Boy & Girls Club of Shelton, Ct (Directions Below)
07.01.12:    Parade Start – Meet at JFK Stadium Central High School. Shuttles will bring you to the front of the parade. Meet between 8:30 and 10:00. The last shuttle leaves at 10:30 to go to the parade start.

Directions to Seaside Park - Rehearsal Site – Saturday, June 30th at 9:00 am

For your GPS put in Bridgeport, CT  - Intersection of Eamer Blvd. & Barnum Blvd.
There are a number of fields our practice site is at the furthest end of Seaside Park. Look for the trucks when you get into the park.  You will go through a gate house tell them you are with the Caballeros.

Take I-95 North:
To Ext 26 Go straight off Exit , Turn Right on Iranistan.  Turn Right on Atlantic, keep going Atlantic will turn into Waldmere Ave and then Barnum Blvd. Our practice site is at the furthest end of Seaside Park

Or I-95 South:
Take exit 27. At bottom of exit go straight alongside 95 to Park Avenue (3rd light?). Take left and follow to Seaside Park. Once you get into the park make a right and keep going south to the end of the park.
 
Alternate from I-95 North: Take exit 27. At bottom of exit take a left and go under 95 to light and take another left and go alongside 95 to Park Avenue (1 light?). Take a left and follow to Seaside Park. Once you get into the park make a right and keep going south to the end of the park
Directions to Competition Site:

Get back to Atlantic Ave. and take it to Park Ave. Make a left. Make a right onto Taft.  Make a right onto Lincoln.
Go through the gate and stay to your right go down the hill just past the school make a left and park. Showers will be at the stadium.

2.Turn RIGHT onto CAPITOL AVE. CAPITOL AVE
3.Take the 1st LEFT onto ISLAND BROOK AVE EXT.
4.Merge onto CT-8 N toward TRUMBULL/WATERBURY. This leg is 9.6 Miles
5.Take EXIT 14 toward CT-110/HOWE AVE/SHELTON.
6.Turn LEFT onto KNEEN ST.
7.Turn LEFT onto HOWE AVE/CT-110.
8.Turn RIGHT onto BROOK ST.  BROOK ST is
9. 25 BROOK ST is on the LEFT. If you reach POSITIVE PL you've gone a little too far

Barnum Parade – Sunday,  July 1, 2012
Shuttle services will bring you to the beginning of the parade from Central High School at the Madison Ave. gate.  This service will begin at 8:30 AM and go till 10:30 AM. DO NOT BE LATE! We are in the WHITE DIVISON  W2. OUR CHECK POINT IS FAIRFIELD AVE. & CLINTON AVE.  The parade is Rain or Shine. 

Directions back TO JFK Central High School FROM Boys & Girls Club
When you get to the school instead of going down the hill to the right, make a left just pass the gates look for the truck,  park your car get your equipment off the truck and get on one of the shuttles it will bring you to the beginning of the parade.  Here are the directions:

1. Start out going SOUTHWEST on BROOK ST toward CT-110/HOWE AVE.
2. Take the 1st LEFT onto HOWE AVE/CT-110
3. Turn RIGHT onto CENTER ST/CT-714. Continue to follow CT-714. CT-714
4. Merge onto CT-8 S via the ramp on the LEFT toward BRIDGEPORT.
5. Take the MAIN ST. NORTH exit, EXIT 3, toward WASHINGTON AVE.
6. Turn RIGHT onto MAIN ST .
7. Turn LEFT onto NORTH AVE/US-1. NORTH AVE
8. Take the 3rd RIGHT onto MADISON AVE.
9. Turn LEFT onto TAFT AVE. TAFT AVE
10. Take the 2nd LEFT onto LINCOLN BLVD.
1 LINCOLN BLVD is on the RIGHT.
